Inheritance of assignment from another source

It is very common for ACU points to be located in the same location as the ACU itself. It would be counterproductive to define the geographical position for each point when the equipment in which they are found has the same position.

The AssignmentView allows the inheritance of assignments from another source for each aspect. It is thus possible to inherit a source on an Aspect A, but to define an assignment on an Aspect B.

Implementation

To do this, instead of selecting Nodes in the drop-down NodeDefinitions selections, use the green inheritance section. Select a super source. The drop-down list is built automatically based on the sources found among the parent components of the current source.

Once the super-source is selected, the Nodes of the selected super-source appear lightly grayed out. It is however necessary to access the super-source to modify its assignment. If this is changed, all sources with inheritance will be automatically updated.

In the example below, the input is assigned to the Node "Temperature Setpoint" on the aspect Nature. It inherits the source "ACU_01" on the geographical aspect. The inheritance is actually very practical when we consider the Geographical and Nature aspects. The location may be identical but the nature of the points for an ACU are all different.

There is no inheritance level limit. A source can inherit from a source that itself inherits a source, etc.

It is now possible to inherit from a source that is not an ascendant, there is two ways to do it

  • Click on the pencil and select an InfoSource or a point that have an InfoSource inside:

  • Drag & drop an InfoSource or a point that have an InfoSource on the "inherited From" header

Hyperlink to the supersource

The right icon displayed for every supersource is a link to the source itself so you can visualize its assignments.
